Richard has over 20 years of diverse business, consulting, and academic experience. He works with executives, senior leaders, and teams to strengthen their leadership and organizational impact.
Richard’s unique background of blended experience provides a deep and broad-based combination of theory and practice. He seamlessly incorporates contemporary research, knowledge, and application into his work in ways that advance individual, team, and organizational goals.
Richard was the founder and CEO of Success Factor Systems, Inc., the predecessor company to Success Factors. He developed the company’s business and product strategy, raised the first two rounds of venture funding, and led the firm through its first seven years of growth.
Richard has been a Guest Fellow at the Center for Leadership Development and Research in the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. He has also held positions as Partner, Leadership Consulting for Heidrick & Struggles, Western Regional Vice President of Linkage, Inc., and Chief Learning Officer for Virtual Learn e-learning company. Earlier in his career, he was an Assistant Professor at Purdue University.
Richard has published extensively, written a book on Career Decision Making, been a speaker at many national and international conferences, and is the author of the program, Raising the Leadership Bar ™.
